FORSE only offers support to schools and educational programs where 75% of the students served are categorized as populations that are underrepresented in STEM and that also meet our nondiscrimination requirement. See details below for further definition.

Underrepresented Populations - We recognize the following populations as traditionally underrepresented in STEM and seek to support students from these populations through FORSE: Hispanic/Latino, Black/African-American, Native American/Indigenous, LGBT+ students, recent immigrants or refugees and students with disabilities. For groups seeking support for females in STEM, 100% of students served by FORSE must be female/female-identifying individuals.

Although FORSE supports targeted populations, we also recognize that students from rural and urban settings, and students living in poverty may face challenges and barriers when attempting to access a STEM major or career and we seek to support, inspire, and encourage them as well through our other initiatives and programs.

Nondiscrimination Statement -The Minnesota Academy of Science does not partner with, support, or provide resources to organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.
