150 Minnesota Students to Compete at Regional High School Science Bowl

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. Paul, MN [January 10, 2022] – On Saturday, January 22, 150 students will utilize their science and math knowledge to compete virtually in the 2022 high school Minnesota Science Bowl. This regional competition is organized annually by the Minnesota Academy of Science. The winning team will advance to the prestigious National Science Bowl, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

During Science Bowl, students will compete in five-person teams to solve technical problems and answer advanced questions. The tournament’s virtual format is an exciting, fast-paced, Q&A where teams with the highest scores advance to the next round of competition. Science Bowl gives students interested in math and science an important venue to hone their knowledge and strengthen their teamwork skills.

“Coaches say that going ahead with the virtual competition, despite the pandemic uncertainties, provides an important sense of normalcy and companionship for their students,” notes Science Bowl tournament manager Kristine Fowler. “In any format, Science Bowl encourages students to expand their understanding of science and math, while also increasing their capacity to work together and to overcome challenges. Our volunteers are continually amazed by participants’ knowledge and motivation!”
